We are proud to present rarely heard new music for violin duo by master experimental giants of the 20th century, performed by the duo of János Négyesy & Päivikki Nykter. This duo's skill, deep mutual understanding, and broad repertoire have made them ideal proponents of the new music that we hope will one day become standards in the concert halls.

In the dozen or so years that they have been playing together, János Négyesy & Päivikki Nykter have built a reputation for performances of uncommon musicality, warmth and insight. The excellence of this performing duo make them the go-to interpreters of rare music by the recent Italian masters Luciano Berio and Luigi Nono.

It is in the spirit of the violin duo as high art that the pieces on this recording were written. And this is the duo that can rise to the challenge. We are very grateful to be able to present this last recording of the famous duo as we mourn and celebrate the passing of János Négyesy, a great friend.
