We are proud to present the release of a new CD by Cappella Gloriana, San Diego's premiere a cappella choral ensemble. Founded in 1996 by co-directors Virginia Sublett and Stephen Sturk, Cappella Gloriana performs the finest and most demanding choral literature from the Tudor period to the present day. Channel Crossings is the first commercial recording to document the work of this outstanding choral ensemble.
Cappella Gloriana comprises some of the most accomplished singers in San Diego. As individuals, they have performed and recorded with major opera companies, ensembles and orchestras throughout the world. Members of Cappella Gloriana have performed individually with the Waverly Consort, the Philharmonia Baroque, and the Los Angeles Opera, among others.

The CD pairs five English Tudor anthems by Orlando Gibbons, Thomas Tallis, Adrian Batten, and William Byrd, with four French chansons by Pierre Passereau, Claudin de Sermisy, Pierre Certon, and Clément Janequin, interspersing "Choral Dances" from Gloriana by Twentieth Century English composer Benjamin Britten, and Quatre motets sur de thèmes grégoriens by his French contemporary Maurice Duruflé. Also included are a work by the late avant-garde composer Olivier Messiaen, and Kyrie by composer Philippe Lierdeman of the current generation.
