We are proud to present Nicolas Vérin's Chassés-Croisés. Imported from Bagnolet, France (a suburb of Paris), this CD features chamber works, duos and solo instrumental pieces perfomed at live concerts in Paris and St-Maur.

Vérin is a prize winning composer (most recently the 2001 prize of "Villa Médicis hors les murs") whose instrumental music is published by Jobert Publishing. Several of the works on this album evoke the energy of the French equivalent of childrens' games such as "tag" and "hide-'n-seek." Other influences such as European jazz and his own experiments in the field of electro-acoustic music are also prevalent. Vérin has studied with composer Pierre Schaeffer and collaborated with composer Pierre Henry, the two significant historical figures of the famous musique concrète movement.
